School Education

AAA has education materials ready-made for various stages of schooling.

Primary School

The AAA has designed a booklet to assist primary school educators in introducing ‘alpacas as a farming alternative’ into their classrooms.

A visit by an alpaca owner to your school, so that your students can be introduced to this exciting industry, can be easily arranged.

Links to the booklet and other resources are available below. To arrange a visit to your school by an alpaca owner please contact the AAA National Office.

TAFE

The AAA is pleased to advise that the following courses are now available for both members and non-members to be trained as alpaca classers through the TAFE system. Soon these courses will also be available through private Registered Training Organizations (RTO).

  1. Owner classer level will need to complete Certificate III in Agriculture or Certificate III in Wool Preparation plus two specific alpaca units.
  1. Professional classer level will need to complete Certificate IV Wool Classing plus two specific alpaca units.

We recommend that you contact your local TAFE for more detail, cost of the courses and any prior learning/qualifications you have that may be considered. Once qualified an application can be made to AWEX to obtain alpaca classer registration and stencil at the applicable level.
