Australian Alpaca Week 2-10 May 2015

With only five weeks to go until 2015 Australian Alpaca Week, there have never been more reasons to be excited about the Smart Future of our industry and the promotional initiatives that are programmed to generate the public attention it deserves.

If you'd like to join the fun, jump online now at and sign your stud up to help bring Australian Alpaca's story to life for Australian this 2-10 May 2015.

Our Future: Looking Good in Australian Alpaca

This May, Australian Alpaca Week celebrates 25 years of the alpaca industry in Australia. The first alpacas to land in Australia made for quite a sight as the unusual looking livestock from South America took bold steps into our foreign paddocks. Who would have guessed how well suited to their new home they would prove to be?

Today, the industry has grown from those small initial shipments to a national herd of more than 160,000 animals creating a very smart future in Australian farming serving elite breeding, luxury fibre and gourmet meat industries.

During Australian Alpaca Week, May 2-10, this fine and strong future will be yours to feel as alpaca studs open around the country to invite you to run your hands through the silky soft fleece of the Australian alpaca.

Meet these fascinating animals with their environmentally friendly credentials as they bring increasing value to the agriculture industry, and great personality to Australian farming on lifestyle properties, smallholdings and major pastoral ventures around the nation.

The world has fallen in love with the quality of Australian alpaca, now its your turn.

EVENT: Australian Alpaca Week Open Farms
WHERE: Alpaca Studs and Farms throughout Australia

Good News for Fleece Exhibitors

at the Royal Bathurst and Hawkesbury Shows.

There has been provision made for alpaca fleece exhibitors to have their fleece entries transported free, straight from the Royal Bathurst Show to the Hawkesbury Show.

The fleece will then either be transported back to Bathurst or Mudgee, or posted to the exhibitor after the Hawkesbury Show.
Fleeces being returned to the exhibitor by post will cost $10 per fleece unless the fleece has been weighed and the correct postage added to the cost of entry for the Hawkesbury Show.

If you wish to enter both shows, please enter them separately (see the Hawkesbury show web site for details) and include return postage IF required on the Hawkesbury entry.

Please indicate on your entry, when entering fleece for the Royal Bathurst Show, if you have also entered the Hawkesbury Show as well.
