23 Dec AAA Showing Rules Update

The following changes to the AAA Showing Rules have been endorsed by the AAA Board and will be effective from 1 January 2021.

Rule 11: a preamble has been included in the rule regarding Animal Welfare

Rule 50: Handlers Attire – White Coats can be worn until 31 December 2021, any colour shirt can be worn beneath a black vest, black AAA shirts can be worn.  Convenor can vary or specify attire for special events.

Rule 56: Fleece lengths for Showing – Halter class entry must have a minimum fleece length of 50 millimetres for Huacaya and Suri and a maximum fleece age:

  • For Huacaya of under 14 months
  • For Suri in a first fleece of under 18 months, and
  • For Suri in a second or subsequent fleece of under 14 months

Section 2 – Fleece Entries.

Due to the cancellation of many shows in 2020 the requirement that only a fleece that has been shorn in the previous 18 months can be shown will be suspended for shows in 2021.  Members will be able to show fleeces shorn in 2019 or 2020 , but only one fleece from any animal can be entered into the same show.

On page 28, the wording “fancy fleeces are not eligible for Championship or Supreme Awards. Best Fancy awards may be offered” will be deleted.  Fancy Fleeces are eligible for Championship or Supreme Awards.

Section 3 – Class Definitions – Young Judge Competitions.

To align with ASA regulations for Young Judge Competitions, the final bullet point (on page 38) has been amended to: allow competitors two minutes to inform the over judge of the reasons for their placing.  (Previously three minutes was allowed.)

Section 6 – Conducting a Show

CHAMPIONSHIP SASHES AND PRIZE RIBBONS (AGE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS) – Champion and Reserve Champion sashes are no longer required to bear the name and year of the relevant Show.
